Claire Metivier

Associate Director

Claire’s journey as an architect began in London in 2009 when she qualified as an ARB registered Architect. For the past 15 years, she has made Scotland her professional home, where she has excelled in various roles including Architect and Contract Administrator, specializing in residential, hotel, and cultural projects.

With each construction project presenting its unique set of challenges, Claire finds joy in unraveling technical issues at both macro and micro scales. She leads her team with enthusiasm and collaboration, ensuring that every project receives a considered and nuanced solution. Claire recognizes the importance of input from her wider team and values the relationships she has cultivated with trusted professional collaborators, whose insights extend beyond the confines of individual projects.

Claire’s extensive on-site experience with buildings from different eras has positioned her as an expert in retrofit and reuse of existing fabric, a skill set that has become increasingly valuable in today’s architectural landscape. She adeptly navigates the opportunities and constraints presented by these structures, guiding the early design stages of subsequent projects with wisdom gained from her hands-on experience.

In her commitment to staying abreast of industry developments, Claire serves as a professional examiner for APEAS, ensuring she remains at the forefront of evolving legislation in the Scottish and UK construction industry. She also contributes to the professional practice at RIBA Part Three and Edinburgh University, further solidifying her reputation as a thought leader in the field.

Claire’s values resonated deeply with those of LBA, leading her to join the studio in 2023. Currently, she leads the Fringe and Heriot Watt University projects while providing invaluable support to the team involved in residential projects.
